The Cadet Daniel M. Monnin Memorial Achievement Award

Daniel M. Monnin was a Cadet at the Columbus State Community College Police Academy, Class #20, graduating in 2009. Daniel tragically lost his life in a swimming accident in 2010 as he was embarking on what was certain to be a successful career in law enforcement. During his time at Columbus State in the Police Academy, Daniel excelled in his class and set an example for other classmates to follow. As a memorial to Daniel’s dedication and commitment to overcome challenges and strive for excellence, Daniel’s parents, Susan and Steve Monnin, established The Cadet Daniel M. Monnin Memorial Achievement Award Fund in 2010 with the Columbus State Community College Foundation to honor Daniel and future Cadets who excel in their class. This honored award will be given annually to one Cadet who has demonstrated a level of excellence throughout his or her time in the academy in the areas of academics, character, determination, performance and ethics. The award winning Cadet will be selected by faculty of the Law Enforcement Program who have taught and worked with each cadet throughout the program. The recipient of The Cadet Daniel M. Monnin Memorial Achievement Award will receive a monetary award, a certificate of achievement, and will have his or her name engraved on the award plaque which is permanently displayed within the Law Enforcement Program Offices at Columbus State Community College. The first recipient of The Cadet Daniel M. Monnin Memorial Achievement Award was Cadet Nicholas I. Williams of Class #22 in September 2011.
